Former Indian skipper and legend MS Dhoni, has started his preparations for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League as he will be leading the defending champions Chennai Super Kings. The 42-year-old keeper-batter, who underwent knee surgery at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai last year, confirmed his participation in the IPL 2024. He hinted that he won’t be retiring from the IPL after his team won the title in 2023.

MS Dhoni has played in all 16 editions of the IPL so far and has been the most experienced player in the IPL. He made his last appearance for the national team on July 10, 2019, during the first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. However, even after quitting international cricket, he continues to play in the IPL and has won two titles with CSK since his international retirement in the years 2021 and 2023.

It was a huge and happy surprise for the fans when MS Dhoni confirmed that he would be playing in the IPL 2024 as many expected him to announce his retirement after the end of the IPL 2023. However, his availability was in doubt due to his knee injury but, a recent video that is going viral on the internet has brought back the smiles on the faces of the fans. In the viral video, the 42-year-old wicketkeeper-batter is seen practicing in the nets.

The 2024 season of the Indian Premier League will reportedly commence on March 22 according to Dainik Jagran. It will conclude during the last week of May and following IPL 2024 will be the T20 World Cup megaevent which is scheduled to commence on June 1.
