Exciting news for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fans, as Nitish Rana has resumed his training and is progressing well towards achieving full fitness for the latter stages of the ongoing IPL 2024.

The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper was sidelined after playing only one match in the ongoing IPL 2024 after he sustained a finger injury. The 30-year-old batter underwent medical evaluations and is preparing for a comeback during the latter stages of the tournament.

The pictures of Rana having a full-fledged net session are going viral on social media, and his return promises to bolster KKR's batting lineup significantly for the upcoming IPL 2024 matches. Rana's versatile skills will be pivotal for KKR as they aim to secure a berth in the IPL 2024 playoffs.

Nitish Rana returns to full-fledged training

Rana suffered a finger injury during KKR’s IPL 2024 opener against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 23, forcing him to miss the last eight games for the two-time IPL champions. He had scored only nine runs during KKR’s narrow four-run win over the SRH at the Eden Gardens.

However, KKR remains optimistic about Rana’s swift recovery, as he has been a vital cog in their middle order over the years. He had a great season last season, where he scored 413 runs in 14 matches while leading the Kolkata franchise. However, KKR finished as the 7th-ranked team last year.

Speaking about the ongoing IPL 2024, KKR is in great form and currently occupies second place in the standings with 12 points from the nine games that they have played so far in the tournament. They are just behind the table-toppers, the Rajasthan Royals, who have 16 points from nine games in the league.

KKR is in a strong position to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs

KKR is in a strong position to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs, as they need just four more points to secure a spot in the final stage of the lucrative T20 league. While historically, teams with 14 points have secured IPL playoff berths, KKR would be wise to target winning at least three of their remaining seven matches this season to ensure their qualification with certainty.

KKR’s upcoming matches in the ongoing IPL 2024 are against the Mumbai Indians (MI), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Mumbai Indians (MI). These matches will be crucial for KKR to secure the points to win a playoff berth.

The Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata team will be facing the Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI) in their next IPL 2024 match on Friday, April 3, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai Indians (MI) are currently in the 9th spot in the IPL 2024 points table with only 6 points from their 10 games.
