Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) takes on Mumbai Indians (MI) in their final league game in Mumbai on May 17, Friday. The match starts from 7. 30 pm IST with LSG needing to win both their final two games to remain in the hunt for the playoffs. However, their loss to DC in their previous game now puts them almost out of contention for the playoffs. The Super Giants have now lost three games on the trot with their NRR taking a big hit.

LSG have been on the road for their last three league games. They lost to SRH, won against DC, and are now in with a chance to win against MI as well. LSG won the first fixture between the two sides earlier this season.

The Super Giants have won four out of the five games played against Mumbai Indians. In many ways, MI will be under pressure to better their record against MI and that is where they have a chance to topple the home side.

LSG head coach Justin Langer in a recent interview with Rev Sportz clarified that KL Rahul will be playing the last two games after the reported fallout with team owner Sanjeev Goenka.

Langer said that it was a cricketing discussion between the two and the visuals are blown out of proportion. Thus, Rahul, the skipper will have a job on his hands as he leads his side against Mumbai Indians on Friday.

KL Rahul (C)

Rahul will continue to lead the side and open the batting. In the match against DC, he spoke about moving on from the LSG game and putting all the focus on the final two games. He is the top scorer for the side.

Quinton de Kock (WK)

De Kock will open the batting with Rahul to give the much-needed impetus with the bat. This has not been a good season for the experienced batter, but he can certainly make it count in the final two games.

Marcus Stoinis

Stoinis will slot in at three. He is the second-highest run-scorer with over 350 runs this season and will have a role with the bat as well.

Deepak Hooda

Hooda will slot in at four. His best season for LSG came at batting at number four when he scored 451 runs in IPL 2022. This year, he has scored just 134 runs. He gives an option with the ball as well.

Nicholas Pooran

The southpaw will slot in at five. He has scored over 350 runs for LSG as well and has hit 24 sixes this season so far. He will need to be good against the MI spinners which is a match-up.

Krunal Pandya

Pandya will slot in at six and lengthen the batting order. He has been economical with the ball as well. He has scored just over 100 runs and picked up five wickets for the season so far.

Arshad Khan

Left-arm pacer Arshad Khan will be one of the Indian pacers. LSG opted to field an Indian core of bowlers and that should be the way in this game as well.

Yudhvir Singh Charak

The right-arm fast bowler will be the second seamer. he played against KKR, and DC and should play against MI. The pacer has shown good signs so far in the first few games.

Ravi Bishnoi

Bishnoi will be the senior Indian spinner in the playing XI and KL Rahul will depend on him against LSG. This has not been an impressive season so far. He has picked up seven wickets this season so far.

Naveen as the overseas seamer has been given an extended run by the LSG franchises despite other bowlers in the lineup. He has bowled well this season so far.

Mohsin Khan

Mohsin Khan concludes the likely playing XI for LSG. He got injured in the match against KKR but returned for the game against DC and should play against MI. He should have a good match-up against Rohit Sharma.

Impact Sub: Ayush Badoni

Badoni might be used as the Impact Sub by LSG as they preferred to chase against DC and might do the same against Mumbai Indians as well as that gives them a better chance to win.
