Team India paid the price for dropping the catch of Gareth Delany. From a single over of the Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna, the Irish batter helped the team to gather 27 runs.
George Dockrell welcomed Krishna with a four on the opening ball of the 17th over of the first innings of the ongoing India vs Ireland 1st T20I in Belfast. Then, they took a single in the following ball, and Delany took the strike, which turned into a nightmare for the Indian pacer.
6, 6, 6 for the Ireland batter Gareth Delany off Prasidh Krishan
After hitting a 4 on the third delivery of the over, Gareth Delany took on Prasidh Krishan for a hat-trick of 6. With a couple of 4s and three 6s, the over ended with 27 runs. So far, it is the costliest over produced by an Indian bowler in the contest. After a shaky start, Ireland found their rhythm and was well set to secure a challenging total on the scoreboard.

Prasidh Krishan sustained a bad day in the office as he went for 0/57 in his four overs. Ireland, the home team, who were struggling during the powerplays and during the initial stage of the innings, recovered nicely and secured a challenging total of 182 runs in 20 overs.
Ireland made a spectacular bounce back after losing multiple wickets early in the match
The newly appointed captain of the Irish cricket team, Lorcan Tucker, claimed a well-crafted half-century against the star-studded bowling attack of the Indian cricket team. Tucker was well accompanied in the middle by Gareth Delany, who missed his half-century by only one run. With Tucker's 50 off 36 and Delany's 49 off 32, Ireland took the total over 180 from a point when the team was down by 4 wickets only for 51 runs in 7.1 overs.
According to Cricbuzz, 182/9 is the second highest total for Ireland against India, only behind 221/5 in Malahide in 2022 when they chased 225.
Shivam Dube praised the opposing batters' efforts
At the innings break, Indian seam bowling all-rounder Shivam Dube shared that the pitch and the atmosphere of the match were amazing in the first innings.
"It’s great. We really enjoy playing in Ireland. We played in Dublin. It was really good. Now we are here… The crowd is amazing. The wicket is good. We are really enjoying this," Shivam Dube stated during the innings break.
Dube praised the batting of the opposing team as they made a brilliant bounce back, even after losing multiple wickets inside the powerplays.
"Definitely, they batted really well. Amazing batting by all of them. And I think it’s a good total. We have to bat really well to achieve this total. In these kinds of conditions, you need to bowl on the hard lengths. So that was my plan. You told me I'm a genuine all-rounder, so I have to bowl," he added.
