West Indies mystery spinner Sunil Narine has picked the legendary Indian opener Virender Sehwag as one of the toughest batters he faced during his career.

Virender Sehwag was one of the rarest attacking batters of his era, and he loved attacking from the very first ball, especially against spin. The former Indian opener did not worry too much about the bowler's reputation or the match situation and focused on playing his natural attacking game.
This aggressive approach was a big challenge for Sunil Narine. The mystery spinner’s biggest strength has always been keeping the runs under control and building pressure. However, Sehwag's aggressive strokeplay made things tough for him in the middle.
Narine said on ‘The Super Over’ podcast: “There were two batters who were the toughest for me. One was Virender Sehwag. He never really played according to the situation or the reputation of the bowler; he simply played his natural game. That made me very difficult to bowl to.”

Narine also named KL Rahul as another batter who gave him a tough challenge. He praised Rahul's ability to carefully read the bowler and understand the conditions before choosing his shots.
The KKR icon added, “The other was KL Rahul. He is a quality player who tries to read the game and the bowler as much as possible. The pitches in India also make things challenging for batters, but there was a period when I felt that whenever KL wanted to hit me for a six, he could do it.”
Narine is also named the toughest bowler he has faced as a batter. He picked India's pace star Jasprit Bumrah because of his outstanding consistency and accuracy. The mystery spinner said that Bumrah's ability to repeatedly bowl in the right areas makes him extremely difficult to attack.

The KKR star also named Jewell Andrew as an exciting and fearless talent to watch in the future. Andrew is a 19-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Antigua. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in October 2024 at just 17 years old. Amid this, TKR retire Dwayne Bravo’s No. 47 jersey as tribute to legend.
The Antigua star became the first 17-year-old to play for the West Indies men's senior team since legendary cricketer Sir Garfield Sobers. He later made his T20I debut against Pakistan in July 2025 and became the youngest T20I player in West Indies cricket history.
Andrew is known for his quick bat speed, strong hand-eye coordination, and ability to play shots all around the ground. He has already played three ODIs and five T20Is for the West Indies so far.
