The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 is ongoing, and Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) lost to Jamaica Kingsmen (JK) by 7 runs. Ahead of the match, the TKR franchise did something special for one of their former players, now head coach, Dwayne Bravo, as the franchise retired his iconic jersey no.47, marking his contributions to the team.
TKR, who are the sister franchise of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, have been one of the most successful franchises in CPL history. They have won five CPL trophies (2015, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2025), which showcases their legacy as a team in this tournament. TKR are currently fifth in the points table with two wins and four losses.

While retiring the iconic jersey no. 47, the CEO of the Knight Riders group, Venky Mysore, stated that the contribution of the former cricketer to CPL and the Knight Riders group is immeasurable. He has been a legend of the game, and retiring this jersey means that his legacy will be forever etched with this franchise, as he became the first player whose jersey has been retired.
"Dwayne Bravo's contribution to the Knight Riders and to the CPL is impossible to measure," Venky Mysore, CEO of the Knight Riders group, said at a ceremony before the start of Knight Riders' CPL 2026 game against Jamaica Kingsmen in Port of Spain on Saturday night.

Dwayne Bravo's CPL record and career
Dwayne Bravo has played 107 CPL matches, picking up 129 wickets at an economy rate of 8.74. Despite last playing in 2024, he is the third-highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament, behind only Sunil Narine (139) and Imran Tahir (135).
Dwayne Bravo has won the title five times as a player, from 2015, when the team was called Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel, to 2025. Two titles, in 2017 and 2018, came as captain of TKR, and one he won as St Kitts and Nevis Patriots captain in 2021.
Nicholas Pooran thanks Dwayne Bravo for being his role model
Nicholas Pooran, who is the captain of the franchise, thanked the former cricketer, who retired back in 2024 and is currently coaching the franchise. Pooran stated that the former all-rounder is an inspiration for many cricketers and a role model for him as well. He has been a big brother who has helped him every time.
"Thank you for being an inspiration and a role model," Nicholas Pooran, the current TKR captain, said in a video released by the franchise. "We're really happy to have you in our corner. Thank you for being a bigger brother. Thank you for being a father figure at times for us. But most importantly, thanks for being that inspiration in my life."

Apart from that, his former West Indies and TKR teammate Sunil Narine and Kieron Pollard also shared their views on the franchise retiring the jersey no.47. Narine stated that he has been a workhorse who has helped young cricketers to develop. Pollard also thanked him for creating a warm atmosphere in the dressing room.
Sunil Narine said, "I think you have paved the way for a lot of young cricketers. The way you care about yourself, your energy levels, and always wanting to win in everything."
And Kieron Pollard, who led TKR when they won the title in 2020 with Bravo in the line-up, said, "Thank you for all that you have done obviously for me personally as an individual, and then you know we're coming together as a force to be reckoned with, something that you always spoke about and being able to win championships and games and create an environment where people will enjoy."
