Shubman Gill was one of the best talents on display in the test series with his beautiful cover drives and backfoot square drives. The youngsters of India were the talking point after an injury-ravaged India won the series 2-1 for the second consecutive time in Australia as the inexperienced Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar all handled the pressure really well and brought success to the Indian team at their young age.

India’s Positive Attitude Worked In Their Favor

Michael Hussey mentioned the loss of Mohammad Shami and with Virat Kohli leaving the tour would have made it really a tough ask for India to come back from the loss at Adelaide. He told the stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane having a positive attitude to bat first during the toss surprised him and with his captaincy, it was an opportunity for the youngsters to step up and make a mark in the international stages.

“I was certainly not writing India off at the stage, but I thought it was going to be difficult to come back from that, plus their captain (Virat Kohli) was going home. And of course, Mohammad Shami was injured as well.

“I thought that was going to be a massive loss, but I was really buoyed by Ajinkya Rahane’s comment at the toss at the MCG Test. He had a very positive attitude, he kept the guys nice and positive. He gave new players the opportunity and I think he got them to focus on the positive things. I think that really worked,” Michael Hussey further said.
