The Netherlands announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, which will be played in Zimbabwe in June and July. The Netherlands failed to qualify for the marquee event as they finished in 13th place in the Cricket World Cup Super League.

Experienced wicketkeeper batter Scott Edwards will lead the Dutch squad, and a few players were not included due to their other commitments. Veteran duo Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann have been ruled out of the series due to their England County Championship commitments.

Dutch all-rounder Bas de Leede was included in the squad, as he can contribute to the team with both the bat and ball. Max O’Dowd, Vikramjit Singh, Teja Nidamanuru, and Edwards are expected to perform with the bat to qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023. Logan van Beek, Viv Kingma, and Aryan Dutt will lead the bowling attack.

Can Play A Brand Of Cricket That Will Be Successful – Scott Edwards

Skipper Scott Edwards said that he is confident about their players, who had experience playing in a three-match series in Zimbabwe a few months ago. Edwards believes that they had a mix of experienced and young players in the squad.

“Coming off the back of a three-game series in Zimbabwe a few months ago, we have been really intentional in our preparation for the qualifiers and we are confident the squad we have picked can play a brand of cricket that will be successful in these conditions,” Edwards said.

The Netherlands were included in Group A along with the West Indies, Zimbabwe, Nepal, and the United States in the tournament. They will start their campaign in the Qualifier against Nepal at Harare Sports Club on June 20.

The top two teams in the table will qualify to play in the ODI World Cup 2023, which is set to be played in India later this year. The Holland team performed well and beat South Africa in last year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
