Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman has backed Babar Azam to hit a century in the upcoming last match against Australia. He said that the batter has given everyone a bad habit of scoring runs in every other game.

Babar Azam’s poor form has been one of the concerning things for Pakistan in the ongoing Test series against Australia. He struggled to get going in the two games and probably his poor outings were the reason why the team lost two games.

Since the last few months, Babar Azam hasn’t done justice to his reputation and has bagged quite a few failures. He had a poor run in the ICC World Cup 2023 and it was expected that he would set the stage on fire in the Australia series but that wasn’t the case.

Babar Azam had a great start in the Perth Test as he scored 21 runs in the first innings but couldn’t convert it. It was then expected that he would make an impact in the second innings. But that wasn’t the case as he went back for 14 runs.

In the Melbourne Test, Babar Azam got out for just 1 run in the first innings as Pat Cummins cleaned him up with the peach. In the second innings, he looked good to the eyes as he scored 41 runs to keep his team in the game but he failed to carry on and perished to Josh Hazlewood.

Fakhar Zaman admitted that Babar Azam is not meeting his class. But the left-hander is hopeful after a vital 40 in the last game, he will follow up with a big ton. Speaking to reporters, he explained:

“Babar Azam has given us a bad habit by scoring century in every other match. He is currently scoring 40s in every match but not meeting his class. I’m hopeful for Babar to score big in the Sydney Test.”

The last of the series between Australia and Pakistan will be played on 3rd January in Sydney. The visitors have lost two games on the trot and have lost the series. But would be hoping to make a comeback in the final game.

If they have to fancy their chances of winning, Babar Azam needs to step up and score big for his team.

PAK vs AUS: Shaheen does have the capabilities of a good captain – Fakhar Zaman

After the ongoing series against Australia, Pakistan will travel to New Zealand for the five-match T20I series. They will be having a new captain in Shaheen Afridi. The pacer was appointed as leader after Babar Azam stepped down following the team’s poor performances in the World Cup.

Fakhar Zaman will also be part of the series and is expected to play a crucial role for the team. He of late has been in great form and would be vital for the team in the series.

Fakhar Zaman showed confidence in Shaheen Afridi doing good as captain of the team. He admitted that it would be a challenge for the team and that the fast bowler has good capabilities as a leader. He explained:

“Shaheen Afridi did great captaincy of Lahore Qalandars. There is a big difference between captaincy in PSL and Pakistan Cricket Team but Shaheen does have capabilities of a good captain.”

The five-match T20I series between Pakistan and Australia will be played from 12th January to 21st January.
