PAK vs NZ: "I Am Ready To Play Any Role For Pakistan Team" - Saim Ayub Says Ahead Of The T20I Series Against New Zealand

The young left-handed batter Saim Ayub said that he can bat at any position in the batting order for Pakistan in the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand at home. Saim Ayub expressed his wish to represent Pakistan and perform well across the three formats of international cricket.

Saim Ayub earned a call from the selection committee after performing well in the latest edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The Karachi-born cricketer made his debut against Afghanistan in the first T20I of the three-match series. He impressed with his performance with the bat in the challenging conditions in Sharjah.

Saim Ayub said that he can play any role according to the team’s requirements in the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. Saim Ayub is likely to move down the batting order against the Black Caps with the regular openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam returning to the squad.

“I am ready to play any role for the Pakistan team. The thing is to keep myself mentally prepared for any role,” Saim Ayub said ahead of the series.

Really Enjoyed Playing Alongside Him – Saim Ayub

The 20-year-old said he enjoyed playing with Babar Azam in the eighth edition of the PSL. Ayub said that youngsters can learn a lot from Pakistan’s captains as he gives confidence to players.

“I got the opportunity to learn from Babar Azam while playing for Peshawar Zalmi. He always gives confidence to youngsters, so I really enjoyed playing alongside him,” he said.

“We will enter the field with the determination to win every match of the T20 series against New Zealand,” he added.

I Focus On Keeping Myself Ready For All Three Formats – Saim Ayub

Saim Ayub said that he is focused on preparing to represent Pakistan across all three formats. The Southpaw said that he wants to be the top performer for his country.

“I don’t think much about the future, I focus on keeping myself ready for all three formats of the game. I have watched videos of successful left-handers, including Saeed Anwar, and I want to earn a name like them and have people use me as an example,” he concluded.
