Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has come forward and clarified the reports about her comments on giving her life to sign Indian captain Rohit Sharma in the upcoming IPL auction in 2025. Zinta, who regularly comes to watch Punjab's matches in IPL 2024, has claimed that none of those reports have anything true and that she has never made this statement to any news outlet.

Preity Zinta took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify that those reports are fake as she wrote a lengthy post, addressing all the things that were circulating on the internet over the past few weeks.

These rumors were spread all over on Instagram, X and also on various different digital media platforms, on the light of Punjab Kings' poor performance this IPL season. The Kings are winless in all of their last 3 matches against Hyderabad, Punjab and Mumbai.

Punjab Kings' most recent loss came two nights ago to the hands of Hardik Pandya's Mumbai Indians at the Maharaja Yadavindra stadium in Mullanpur.

Therein, the Preity Zinta-backed franchise had reached extremely closer to the win but weren't able to come out on top, despite sensational efforts from Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma.

Preity Zinta says she is satisfied with the current Punjab Kings team

Preity Zinta started off her lengthy tweet by saying that all the articles related to her statement on Rohit Sharma are absolutely fake and baseless.

That she holds Rohit in the highest of regards and is a huge fan of his batting as well as leadership but she has never said that she would bet on her life for the 5-time IPL winning captain's signature. Zinta claimed that she has never been in a interview where she has made this statement.

Furthermore, Preity Zinta stated that she has a lot of respect for full-time captain Shikhar Dhawan and the fact that he is injured at the moment, these rumors sound even more poor.

Zinta then highlighted the misinformation without any such verification are being spread all over the internet and requested media outlets from refraining from spreading such reports. Lastly, Zinta claimed that Punjab's main focus at the moment is to win their games and close the 2024 IPL season on a high note.

"All these articles are completely fake & baseless. I hold Rohit Sharma in very high regard & am a big fan of his, but I have NEVER DISCUSSED him in any interview nor made this STATEMENT ! I also have a lot of respect for Shikhar Dhawan & he being currently injured , makes these articles appear in very poor taste."

"These articles are a perfect example of how misinformation is picked up without any verification & circulated online. I humbly request all Media to refrain from circulating this & embarrassing all concerned parties 🙏 All I want to say is that we have a great team currently & our only focus is to win games & make the most out of #IPL2024  Thank you." - Preity Zinta wrote on X.

Punjab to face Gujarat Titans up next

Meanwhile, the Punjab Kings will now face a stiffer challenge when they visit the Narendra Modi stadium for a reverse fixture against the Gujarat Titans on April 4th. In their previous meeting, the Kings had come out on top by 3-wickets and had registered a last-gasp victory at home.
