On Wednesday (January 6), Sydney Sixers will face off Perth Scorchers at Perth Stadium in the 30th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2020-21. This will be the first meeting between the two teams in the ongoing season.

After Sydney Thunder lost their last match, Sydney Sixers moved to the number one position, having won five out of seven matches played. With the strong bowling and batting line up, they have the upper hand in the game against Perth Scorchers, who are languishing at the bottom of the table with three losses in five matches.

Here, let’s take a look at how Sydney Sixers playing XI might shape in:

Phillipe’s opening partner Jack Edward’s poor outings are the cause of the concern for Syndey Sixers. After scoring 47 runs in the season opener, he hasn’t been able to touch even 30 runs mark in his last six matches. Edwards needs to stitch up a match-winning opening partnership to put the Sixers in a strong position.

After being a flop in his last five matches, James Vince bounced back stronger in the last match against Adelaide Strikers to guide his side to victory. He stitched a partnership with Josh Phillipe and Jordan Silk and scored unbeaten 45 runs to chase down a low score of 150. Vince will want to maintain his good form in the coming matches to maintain the team’s spot at the top.

After playing a captain’s knock against Melbourne Stars where he scored 96 runs, Daniel Hughes hasn’t been able to stay longer in the field. In his last three matches, he has scored 2, 2 and 12 runs respectively. To keep his team at the top, the skipper needs to build innings when others fail.

Apart from batting, his excellent fielding has been applauded. His video of saving a boundary for which he jumped like a superman has gone viral on social media.
