Royal Challengers Bengaluru are keeping themselves alive in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Even after losing matches in the first half of the tournament, they are very much in contention for the playoffs of the tournament.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru made their case strong a bit after their crushing victory over Gujarat Titans in the 52nd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match between the two teams took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday (4th May).

Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced a clutch performance against Gujarat Titans and made it 2-0 in the season over the winners of 2022. They displayed a magnificent performance with bat and ball and sealed their 4th win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Opting to bowl first, they wreaked havoc across the Gujarat Titans batting lineup and set the stage on fire right from the start. RCB left the opposition tottering at 19/3. Shahrukh Khan (37) and David Miller (30) led the rescue charge but the home team kept chipping in with wickets at regular intervals.

Rahul Tewatia (35) also made a valuable contribution but RCB bowlers didn't let any opposition batter go past the 40-run mark. They bundled out Gujarat Titans for 147 runs. Yash Dayal was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/21. Apart from him, Mohammed Siraj and Vijaykumar Vyshak also picked two wickets whereas Cameron Green and Karn Sharma bagged one scalp each.

In the chase, Virat Kohli (42) and Faf du Plessis (64) took Royal Challengers Bengaluru off to a brutal start. They added 92 runs for the opening partnership and put their team in the driving position at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

However, after that, they came under a bit of pressure as they lost wickets within a flash and were reduced to 117/6. But veteran keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik (21*) and Swapnil Singh (15*) made sure that they took their team as RCB won the game by 4 wickets.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Qualification Scenario for the IPL 2024

Royal Challengers Bengaluru with the win over Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League won their 4th game of the tournament. They are now placed at the 7th spot in the points table with 8 points to their name and 7 losses. The win over GT also boosted their NRR to -0.049.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are still in contention for the playoffs. First, they need to ensure that they will all their remaining games, which will take them to 14 points. However, this won't be enough as they also will need some other results to go their way.

RCB would want either of Sunrisers Hyderabad or Lucknow Super to win just one of their remaining games and Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals, who are on 10 points, should win just two games. They also need Punjab Kings to not win more than three games. If all this goes in their favor, they will be tied with teams on 14 points and then can qualify based on NRR.
