The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly got a proposal to increase match fees of cricketers in the domestic circuit and if the sources are to be believed, there is every chance of the proposal getting the desired approval.

Last week BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, secretary Jay Shah, treasurer Arun Dhumal, and vice-president Rajiv Shukla held a two-day meeting in Mumbai where the proposal regarding the increase in salary of domestic cricketers was discussed.

According to a report published in the Hindi Daily ‘Dainik Jagran’, the players who have played more than 20 domestic matches will be paid Rs 60000 per match instead of Rs 35000.

Meanwhile, players who have featured in fewer than 20 games will receive Rs 45000 per match.

If the proposal is ratified then it will be the first time that domestic players will be paid according to their experience..

The BCCI is also holding discussions regarding the compensation to cricketers for the part of the 2020/21 season that was lost due to the pandemic.

The 2020 domestic season saw the Ranji Trophy being scrapped for the first time in 87 years due to bio-bubble and logistic issues.

However, the BCCI is looking to host a full-fledged season this year between October-April with a three-month dedicated window for the First-Class tournament.
