Shahid Afridi, former captain of Pakistan, is frequently in the spotlight for his observations on games. In the latest turn of events, he has garnered attention for advising Virat Kohli to quit international cricket.

Afridi, who left international cricket on several occasions before quitting for good in 2017, believes Kohli shouldn’t get to the point where he gets dropped. In recent times, a lot has been spoken about Kohli’s career because of his indifferent form.

When Virat Kohli Retires, He Will Do It In Style: Shahid Afridi

Speaking about Kohli, Afridi stated how the former India skipper initially struggled in his career before making a name for himself. Calling Kohli a champion, Afridi further asked Kohli to consider retirement and bow out of the game on a high instead of facing the prospect of getting dropped from the team.

“The way Virat has played, the start that he had to his career, there was a struggle initially before he made a name for himself. He is a champion and I believe there comes a stage when you are headed towards retirement. But in that scenario, the aim should be to go out on a high,” Afridi told Samaa TV.

“It shouldn’t reach a stage where you are dropped from the team and instead when you are at your peak.

“It seldom happens though. Very few players, especially cricketers from Asia Cup make that decision, but I feel when Virat does it, he will do it style and probably in the same manner in which he started his career,” he added.

Amit Mishra Takes A Dig At Shahid Afridi

Amit Mishra, former India spinner, has won the internet over with his answer to Afridi’s recent statement regarding Kohli. Taking to Twitter, the former cricket star did not shy away from taking a shot at Afridi as he reminded the latter about his trysts with retirement from the game as he wrote: “Dear Afridi, some people retire only once so please spare Virat Kohli from all this.”

More than 2000 users have retweeted Mishra’s reaction to Afridi’s offer, which has become popular on social media.
