T Natarajan To Replace Injured Umesh Yadav In The Indian Test Team

The BCCI has officially announced that T Natarajan will replace the injured Umesh Yadav in the Indian team ahead of the third Test. Umesh Yadav sustained a calf muscle tear in the second game of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy. T Natarajan is living the time of his life since the last 4 months. First up, he performed exceptionally well in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) for SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Then, the BCCI named him as India’s net bowler for the Australian tour. Fortunately, he made his national debut as Indian pacer Navdeep Saini got injured. His, fortunately, replace Varun Chakravarthy in the Indian squad in place of injured Varun Chakravarthy.

T Natarajan Replaces Umesh Yadav In The Indian Test Team

The BCCI stated in a press release on Friday, “Umesh Yadav sustained a strain in his left calf muscle on Day 3 of the second Border-Gavaskar Test in Melbourne. He underwent scans later in the day. The fast bowler will not recover completely ahead of the remaining two Test matches and has been ruled out of the series.”

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named T Natarajan as Yadav’s replacement. Ahead of the Boxing Day Test, Shardul Thakur was added to the Test squad as Mohd. Shami’s replacement after the senior fast bowler suffered a hairline fracture in his right forearm. Both Shami and Umesh Yadav will head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further rehabilitation of their injuries,” the press release further stated.

India To Take On Australia In The Third Test In Sydney

Now, India and Australia will collide in the third Test from January 7 at Sydney. Star Indian opener, Rohit Sharma will join the side from the third Test. Australian opener David Warner will also join the side from the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy. T  Natarajan looks a definite addition to the side too.

T Natarajan has had a decent first-class career so far. He has played 20 first-class games and picked 64 wickets in those matches. His IPL performance took everybody with a pleasant surprise as he successfully grabbed his spot in the Indian team.
