Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is one of the most legendary leaders in the history of Indian cricket. A new-age Indian team were grown under the leadership of Ganguly when the ‘Men in Blue’ began to win matches in India and overseas.

The Indian team under Ganguly also broke the pride of former England captain Nasser Hussain, when India defeated England in the Natwest Trophy final in 2002 at Lord’s. Sourav Ganguly’s shirtless celebration from the Lord’s balcony is also one of the most iconic glimpses of world cricket.

However, after Sourav Ganguly‘s retirement, MS Dhoni took forward his captaincy legacy brilliantly and won three ICC trophies for India. While India could register immense success in the ICC events under MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli who became Indian captain after Dhoni, totally transformed the Indian team under his reign.

Team India were not only able to win matches overseas but also won bilateral series. While the Indian team were considered to be a batting and spinners-heavy side, Virat transformed India’s key to success in overseas conditions and made India a pace bowling powerhouse. Apart from MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly’s opening partner Sachin Tendulkar’s success is known by every person present in this world, and is also known to be the ‘god of cricket’.

Sourav Ganguly stuns the audience with his one-word answer

During a public appearance, Sourav Ganguly was asked about a quality that he has but Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar don’t. The host asked Ganguly, “One quality that you have and Sachin, Virat, dhoni don’t.”

Sourav Ganguly was as blunt as he was during his captaincy days and gave a one-word answer. Ganguly said, “Adjustment”, the spectators present at the event also applauded the former Indian captain’s answer.

Sourav Ganguly was also asked about the one quality that he would like to take from Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar. Ganguly replied to the question, “Sachin’s greatness, Virat’s aggressiveness and Dhoni’s calmness.”

Sourav Ganguly was also the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from 2019 to 2021. There were also rumors of a dispute between Virat Kohli and Ganguly. Ganguly is now the director of the Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Capitals.

With Rohit Sharma the current captain of the Indian cricket team, he has had immense success in the IPL but is yet to win an ICC title. With the upcoming T20 World Cup coming up, Rohit will now want to end this drought by bringing the trophy home after 2007.

India had a brilliant campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023 and were unbeaten ahead of the final against Australia. However, India faced a disappointing loss in the final of the tournament against Australia and their dream of winning the third World Cup trophy was once again shattered.

India will be beginning their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign on June 5 and will once again be the favourites to lift the title.
