The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) treasurer Arun Dhumal has confirmed that the board is taking the issue between Wriddhiman Saha, and the journalist who threatened him, quite seriously.

Saha received messages from a journalist who offered to interview him. Upon receiving no response from Saha, the journalist was offended and he started threatening the 37-year-old Bengal wicket-keeper.

Several former cricketers have come out in support of Saha, asking him to name the journalist so they can unify and boycott the said journalist. In response to the issue, Dhumal said the BCCI will definitely take action.

Coming to the aid of ‘team man’, Saha, former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri also berated the journalist and requested the apex board to handle the matter. Such threats cannot be taken lightly keeping in mind they can happen to any other cricketer as well.

Shocking a player being threatened by a journo. Blatant position abuse. Something that’s happening too frequently with #TeamIndia.

“Time for the BCCI PREZ to dive in. Find out who the person is in the interest of every cricketer. This is serious coming from ultimate team man WS,” Shastri wrote on his Twitter account.

Saha is currently going through a tough phase, having been told recently that his services won’t be required anymore as the Indian team is looking to groom youngsters for the role of the wicket-keeper batter. He has played 40 Tests for India, scoring 1353 runs at an average of 29.41.
