List Of All Australian Squad Members Who Are Injured Ahead Of The India Tests And Their Current Status
Updated - 27 Nov 2023, 05:05 PM
Australia’s build-up for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been far from ideal. Their injury list has been growing with every passing day ever since David Warner limped off the field during the One-day International series.
With the first Test against India just four days away, the Australian think-tank and the selectors are in a real fix, especially as far as the top-order is concerned, given the fact that David Warner, Will Pucovski have been ruled out while Joe Burns is going through horrendous form.
Here’s a look at the injuries suffered by Australia Test squad members and the latest update on each of them:
David Warner
Injury Type: The Australian swashbuckler limped off the field after he tore his abductor muscle during the second ODI against India at the SCG.
Warner was subsequently ruled out of the last ODI and the three-match T20I series that followed. He has also been ruled out of the Test series opener at the Adelaide Oval.
Injury Status: David Warner recently revealed that he has made a significant amount of progress in the past few days and he feels that he will be ready for the selection for the Boxing Day Test.
“I feel I have made great progress in a short amount of time and it’s best for me to stay here in Sydney to continue working on getting back to full fitness,” David Warner said.
“The injury feels a lot better, but I need to be able to satisfy in my own mind and to my team-mates that I’m 100 per cent ready for Test match conditions… Right now I feel I am short of being able to play at peak fitness and another 10 days will make a difference.” he added.
Will Pucovski
Injury Type: The talented Australian batsman has been ruled out of the 1st Test after he suffered his 9th concussion following a blow to his head courtesy of a Kartik Tyagi bouncer during the first warm-up game.
Fingers crossed for Will Pucovksi, who's retired hurt after this nasty blow to the helmet.

Injury Update: Pucovski has been withdrawn from the Australian squad for the 1st Test. Chairman of selectors Trevor Horns revealed that the management is taking a conservative approach but he reckoned that the 22-year-old will be back to optimum health for the Boxing Day Test.
“We have taken a conservative approach in managing Will (Pucovski) since he sustained the concussion and hope he and David (Warner) will be back to full health ahead of the Boxing Day Test.” Trevor Horns said.

Injury Update: Cricket Australia doctor Pip Inge said on Saturday that the all-rounder has shown considerable improvement. He will continue to be monitored by the medical staff, post which a final call on his availability for the 1st Test will be taken.
“Cameron has shown clinical improvement overnight and is symptomatically better than yesterday… He will remain with the Australia A squad where we will continue to monitor him.”
Sean Abbott
Injury Type: Fast bowler Sean Abbott did not take the field after the Tea session during India’s second innings on day 02.
It was later revealed that Abbott had complained of tightness in his calf.
