The All-India Selection Committee chief MSK Prasad revealed the reason for including Rohit Sharma in the Test squad for the tour of Australia. India’s limited overs deputy Rohit Sharma has been in fine form in the white ball version and finally reaped fruits for his good show. Meanwhile, there is not going to be a lot of swing in the Australian conditions, which is a good sign for the right-hander.

MSK Prasad reveals the selection strategy.

MSK Prasad said while talking in the press conference, “With regard to Rohit, we felt his nature of play (was suited). He is a very good backfoot player”.

Meanwhile, India’s former skipper MS Dhoni was also excluded from the T20I side. Thus, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik will get their chances in the shortest format of the game.

On the other hand, Hardik Pandya also could not find his place in the Test team. Prasad confirmed the Indian all-rounder hasn’t fully recovered from his low back injury.

He is not yet recovered. He is not there till November 15. It is difficult to match Hardik’s all-round ability. We don’t see that kind of talent in India. We expect Bhuvneshwar to come good.

Vijay has been dropped from England series. He went back and played county. Showed intent and performed. Considering the intensity of the series, we considered him for Australia.

Rohit Sharma hasn’t had a merry time while playing in the red ball version. However, he would like to come up roses in the Indian whites.
