Australia vs India 2018: Sanjay Manjrekar Picks Rohit Sharma for Adelaide Test

Renowned cricket expert, Sanjay Manjrekar is known for speaking his mind. On occasions, the former Indian cricketer had to court controversies, but this time around many will agree with his views. Meanwhile, Manjrekar named his playing XI for India for the Adelaide Test match and has opted for Rohit Sharma on the team sheet. As per schedule, the first Test will begin on December 6th.

Manjrekar picks Rohit over Vihari

According to Manjrekar, youngster Prithvi Shaw should open in the innings while there is uncertainty over his partner. Either of KL Rahul or Murali Vijay will get to partner the 19-year-old.

Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara will follow it. Of late, the dependable batter has scored a fifty in the ongoing practice game between the visitors and CA XI. Skipper Virat Kohli will take charge next up and Ajinkya Rahane will come next as per the cricket expert.

Interestingly, he chose Rohit Sharma ahead of Hanuma Vihari and went with Rishabh Pant as the wicket-keeper batter. Spinner Ravi Ashwin is on his team sheet along with the pace trio – Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami.

Shaw ruled out of Adelaide Test

However, there might be a few changes, as Shaw suffered a freakish injury while attempting to catch a ball near the boundary on day three. He had to be carried off and has been seen in pain. Further reports stated he had been ruled out from the first Test match.

It will come as a significant blow to the visitors, as he was their in-form opener. Meanwhile, India is yet to name a replacement, as they will take a close look at the injury.
