Former Australian paceman Dennis Lillee has slammed the pitch at the new Optus Stadium where Indian National Cricket Team and Australia played their second Test match. Meanwhile, the hosts had won the game by 146 runs and leveled the series at 1-1.

Moreover, the 69-year-old however, is at odds with those appraisals. Lille, who was the President of WACA till 2015, admitted that they would want to change the wicket very quickly.

“They want to improve very quickly the wicket they served up,” Lillee, who resigned from his post as WACA president in 2015, told Channel Seven on Thursday.

In addition to, the inaugural Test at the Optus Stadium saw Virat Kohli, Marcus Harris, Aaron Finch, Nathan Lyon, and Umesh Yadav struck with vicious bounce. However, they remained lucky that no one was seriously hurt.

“Variable bounce like that, if you’re playing for your game, as four guys were in that match, I don’t think I’d like to play on a wicket like that that’s up and down. If you look at it, really analyse it, someone could have been killed on that pitch because it was very much some were taking off, the odd one was keeping low. The odd one that just took off a length, I don’t think that’s good for cricket.” he added.

Furthermore, Australi’s coach Justin Langer also gave a ringing endorsement of the strip. He said that “anyone who says there’s anything wrong with that wicket … must have been watching a different game”.

The former great Dennis Lillee also said that the Optus Stadium is a great football arena , but he is not sure how great it will be for a cricket arena. However, he is hoping that everything will be fine as quickly as possible and also mentioned the backlogs of the stadium.
