Australia vs India 2018: Watch: Pat Cummins Breach Cheteshwar Pujara's Defence

Cheteshwar Pujara was cleaned up by Australia’s best bowler thus far, Pat Cummins. The ball kept low and beat Pujara’s solid defence. It was a cross-seamed ball from Pat Cummins. In fact, the fast bowler also could not believe it. Cummins checked to see whether to bails had come off or not. Pat Cummins has been Australia’s pick of the bowlers and deserved the wicket as Pujara’s was Cummins third wicket.

On the other hand, Cheteshwar Pujara was rock solid in his defence. Thus, it needed a ball like that to breach Pujara’s defence. Pujara made a fine 106 runs from 319 balls to get India into a commanding position.

Meanwhile, the Melbourne pitch has produced an inconsistent bounce. Some balls have taken off whereas some have kept low. Mitchell Starc had bowled a ball to Virat Kohli on Day one which had gone over Tim Paine’s head for four byes runs.

Cheteshwar Pujara scored his 17th Test hundred as he batted with gumption. In fact, Pujara took 280 balls to complete his hundred as he batted with patience. The right-hander stitched a mammoth partnership of 170 runs with Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

Kohli played a fine knock of 82 runs as the Indian skipper batted with patience. It was out of character innings from Kohli as he showed patience right throughout his knock. However, the talisman right-hander suffered from a stiff back and tried to take on the attack after it.

Meanwhile, it is now up to Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane to strengthen India’s first innings tally. It would be a perfect opportunity for Rohit Sharma to cement his place in the side. On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane is once again batting with an aggressive attitude.
