Australia vs India 2018: Why Ravindra Jadeja Bowled Only 11 Overs? - Aakash Chopra

Former domestic stalwart Aakash Chopra is confused why Ravindra Jadeja bowled only 11 overs while Hanuma Vihari bowled more than him in the practice match against Cricket Australia XI. However, the game ended in a draw after the first day was washed off due to heavy rain. Moreover, the Indian bowlers struggled to make an impact in the practice game at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

However, Indian skipper Virat Kohli had utilized his every bowler to bowl some of the overs in the game. Kohli himself bowled seven overs in the match. Meanwhile, the concern remains in the mind of Aakash Chopra that why Vihari bowled more overs than Ravindra Jadeja. Thus, it goes to show that India might not play the first Test.

Prithvi Shaw had sustained an ankle injury on the third day’s play and will likely to miss the first Test. However, India might be in a dilemma whom to include at the number six position. Many feel that it would be either Rohit Sharma or Hanuma Vihari which means that Ravindra Jadeja will not be a part of the first game.

Ravindra Jadeja played his last Test match against Windies where he impressed the selectors both with bat and ball. He had bagged four wickets and had slammed a century as well. His performance impressed the selectors and thus he was included into the Test squad against Australia.

Ravindra Jadeja had bowled 11 overs in the practice game but failed to pick up a single wicket. He also conceded 37 runs from his eleven overs at an economy of 3.36. On the other hand, Hanuma Vihari who made his Test debut against England impressed the selectors scoring a half-century in the first essay and bagged three wickets to his name.

Aakash Chopra is in a state of confusion why Hanuma Vihari bowled more overs than Ravindra Jadeja. Chopra took to Twitter to share his thoughts.
