The spin-bowling all-rounder Ashton Agar sustained an unfortunate injury to his finger, which ruled him out from the remainder of the Big Bash League 2018-19. Recently, Ashton Agar was ignored by the Cricket Australia for the ongoing series against India. However, he was the certain candidate for the upcoming tour of India in February.

Agar will undergo surgery on his right index finger, which happened while training. This is his second dislocation on his right hand in 16 months. Agar earlier injured his little finger on the same hand on Australia’s tour of India in September 2017.

Yesterday, Ashton Agar has been passed fit for the Scorchers’ game against Hobart Hurricanes today. He has now been replaced by Will Bosisto. Although Agar has picked only five wickets this BBL season, his economy rate was under seven.

No certain recovery time for Ashton Agar:

Speaking of the injury, the medical staff member quoted that Agar might require a medical surgery to get the repair work to his finger. Further, he added that there is no specific time period for the recovery. It means that Agar needs to take proper care on a regular basis to make a comeback quickly.

“Ash Agar, unfortunately, suffered a fracture dislocation to his right index finger whilst fielding at training yesterday,” Scorchers sports medicine manager Nick Jones said.

“Ash sustained an intra-articular fracture that will require surgical repair. We expect that Ash will undergo surgery in the coming days, and as a result will be unavailable for the remainder of the BBL,” he added.

Agar, 25, was part of Australia’s Test and T20I squads that toured the UAE in October 2018. And also, for the limited-overs squads for home series with South Africa but was ignored against India.

If the injury persists, Agar might miss Australia’s upcoming limited-overs tour of India that is scheduled to begin on February 24, the ODI series against Pakistan to follow, and perhaps even the World Cup.
