Chris Gayle Takes a Sly Dig at Australia Legend Ian Chappell

It is a well-established phenomenon by now that controversies and Chris Gayle go hand in hand. The explosive Jamaican cricketer has the affinity towards stealing the limelight, both on and off the field.

One of the biggest controversies, the West Indian landed himself in, was during the Big Bash League season of 2016.

Consequently, Gayle’s BBL contract didn’t get renewed with the Melbourne Renegades, due to his controversial interview with Channel 10 reporter, Mel McLaughlin on live TV.

As a result, Cricket Australia lashed out Gayle’s inappropriate’ behaviour, following zero tolerance towards his actions.

Former Australian cricketer and renowned cricket expert, Ian Chappell, demanded a worldwide contracting ban on Gayle, who considers his interaction with McLaughlin as a simple joke.

“Nice, so hopefully we can win this game, and we can have a drink after,” Gayle asked out McLaughlin from the dugout of Melbourne Renegades.

“Don’t blush baby,” Gayle added, leaving the poor journalist red-faced and shaking her said, saying, “I’m not blushing.“

“I wouldn’t have a problem if Cricket Australia said to the clubs, ‘he’s never to be contracted again in this country’,” commented Ian Chappell according to Australian Associated Press.

However, Chris Gayle did not respond to the outrage in Australia and waited for his opportunity to lash out at the dignified cricketing personality.

When asked by Mumbai Mirror recently about the entire saga which unfolded down under a couple of years back, Gayle took a sly dig at the Australian by asking,

“Who’s Ian Chappell?”
