Veteran South African speedster Dale Steyn has been ruled out of action for seven to ten days owing to a groin injury. The 35-year-old fast bowler sustained the damage while playing a county cricket match for Hampshire.

The match was against Northamptonshire Cricket Club as per reports in Sports 24 Website. Updating about his injury, Steyn further took to his official twitter handle and stated the injury would keep him out of competitive cricket for seven to ten days. Hence in all likelihood, he will return to action after a one-game break.

“Never had so much attention about my groin area…Small tweak, nothing serious, 7-10 days, Likely to miss 1 game,” Steyn wrote.

Meanwhile, Cricket South Africa gave out further details of his injury. It added the speedster had suffered a Grade 1 injury in his right groin which will need at least ten days to a couple of weeks to fully recover.

“Dale Steyn injury update: Scans have revealed a Grade 1 strain to the right groin. The estimated recovery time is 10-14 days. He is aiming to return to action for Hampshire in their match against Worcester on 4 September,” CSA tweeted.

Making his international debut back in 2005, Dale Steyn has emerged as one of the greats of the game. He is arguably one of the finest bowlers of all time and among the top three of the modern generation.

Pace and swing, everything was in his repertoire. Hence, Dale became such a threat in all conditions. Dale Steyn not only took wickets in favourable conditions like South Africa, England, and Australia, he was also pretty much successful in subcontinental conditions where nothing much is there for the faster bowlers.
