The 35-year-old Daniel Christian is a fine limited-overs all-rounder. He has made a mark for himself while donning the national jersey. Christian is one of the most sought after cricketers when it comes to the Twenty20 leagues across the globe.

The veteran inked a three-year deal with Big Bash League (BBL) Melbourne Renegades, on Monday (May 14).

The all-rounder played a key role in assisting Hobart Hurricanes to reach the finals of the BBL 2017-18. He is known as one of the finest in the domestic professional T20 competition BBL. So far, Christian has scored 1,091 runs and scalped 47 wickets in the history of BBL.

The medium-pace bowler has represented 14 teams across the global platform apart from playing 19 ODIs and 16 T20Is for Australia. He has 31 international wickets and has scored exactly 300 runs in international cricket.

The cricketer also led Nottinghamshire to a famous T20 Blast title last year. He was snapped by Delhi Daredevils (DD) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for INR 1.5 crore. The side is mentored by former Aussie great Ricky Ponting but the Daredevils have failed to put up a good show this season.

“By signing Dan we know we’ve got a T20 player who has proven his ability around the world over a long period of time,” Renegades coach Andrew McDonald said as he was quoted Big Bash League digital.

Daniel Christian, who’s plying trade with Daredevils, has played four games so far in the IPL. The medium pacer has scalped four wickets and scored 26 runs so far.

“He has the ability to change the game with his big hitting in the middle order. He also brings useful variations with the ball and plenty of experience bowling at the death so having that option gives the team added flexibility,” he added.

Even though Christian’s performance hasn’t exceeded the expectation but the Aussie is very much in the thick of things and is certain – to play a key role in the season to come.
