Rashid Khan’s popularity as one of the best bowlers in T20 has been further enhanced by his sensational performances in the ongoing Big Bash League.

The 19-year old’s profile is only getting more attractive with every passing day. Rashid, who was recently bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 9 crore, has not looked back since being bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2017 Indian Premier League. He went on to justify the decision by finishing the tournament as the sixth-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets from 14 matches.

The following month, he was bought by Guyana Amazon Warriors for $60,000 to play in the 2017 Caribbean Premier League. In September 2017, he took a hat-trick for Guyana Amazon Warriors, the first hat-trick in the history of the CPL. In the same month, he was signed by Adelaide Strikers, thus becoming the first Afghan cricketer to be signed up by a BBL outfit.

And just like the previous occasions, Rashid once again justified another franchise’s decision with a sensational performance. The Afghanistan star has been nothing less than a revelation in his first BBL campaign, taking 18 wickets at an average of 13.83. He is currently the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, thus helping Adelaide Strikers to qualify for the final of the tournament.

But unfortunately, the leg-spinner will not be able to play the title-decider against Hobart Hurricanes due to his national commitments. The star tweaker has been receiving congratulatory messages from all round for lighting up the Big Bash League and former Australia batsman Dean Jones also congratulated the Afghan teenager.

Thanking Rashid for his contribution to the league, Jones tweeted: “thank you Rashid Bhai for your wonderful contribution to this years @bbl #safetravels.”

Rashid was also quick to reply, writing: “Thank you so much dear coach @ProfDeano ????”

Meanwhile, in a separate tweet, Rashid bid goodbye to the league, thanking Australia for the ‘great hospitality’ before expressing his excitement to return to the country again next season.

“IN FINAL NOW. Thank you sooo much, everyone, from your support love and great hospitality throughout tournament, Have to leave for my national duty cant wait to come again next year @BBL @StrikersBBL @dizzy259 @travishead34 BEST OF LUCK iN FINAL,” he wrote.
