Virat Kohli recently raised questions over the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI’s) scheduling of Team India’s New Zealand tour. The Men in Blue travelled to New Zealand just four days after the completion of their home series against Australia.

When questioned about the same in a press conference, Kohli supposedly took a sly dig at the BCCI, regarding the timing of the away tour. The players were barely given a break after playing Australia at home.

“It’s getting closer and closer to landing at the stadium straight (from the airport), Hopefully, this will be taken into consideration in the future,” said Kohli before the New Zealand tour.

The Indian skipper’s comments were mirrored by fans on social media, who weren’t too pleased with the BCCI either.

However, former BCCI Cricket Advisory Committee (CoA) member Diana Edulji, has questioned Kohli over his comments regarding the board.

‘Virat Kohli complaining now is strange’: Diana Edulji

According to Diana, Kohli’s comments about scheduling of the New Zealand tour do not make sense, as he himself approved the same, back in 2017.

She further revealed that Kohli along with MS Dhoni and coach Ravi Shashtri had given their nod to the tour when it was planned as part of India’s Future Tour Programs (FTP) in November 2017.

Speaking to the Indian Express, Diana said, “Virat complaining now is definitely strange, I feel that he is playing so much of cricket that he forgot that he has given OK for such a schedule. We didn’t force this on the players. They knew that they would be landing in New Zealand three days before. It’s written in the minutes. Only after they (players) gave their consent was it approved.”

“We had asked if the players wanted to change anything. We passed the FTP only after the players and the coach okayed it,” she added.

Similarly, CoA chief Amitabh Chaudhary too had criticised Virat earlier, because instead of going to the board directly, the 31-year-old rather opted to raise the issue in front of media.
