Finally, New Zealand came up with a brilliant show in the ongoing 5-match series against the Indian National Cricket Team. Spinner Ish Sodhi alongside the other bowlers in the attack restricted India to put a moderate target on the board. If there was no Manish Pandey, India would have added quite a few embarrassing records to their name.

Getting into the details, earlier, it was Tim Southee, who replaced Kane Williamson as the skipper of this clash, won the toss, to bowl first. They have made a couple of changes by bringing in Tom Bruce and Daryl Mitchell in place of Kane Williamson and Colin de Grandhomme.

The Indian team also made three changes by resting Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami to give game time for Sanju Samson, Navdeep Saini and Washington Sundar. Though Samson started his innings brilliantly with a handsome six, he failed to repeat his magic in the middle. He was quickly followed by Virat Kohli when Mitchell Santner grabbed a superb catch.

On the other hand, KL Rahul carried his form in the middle for a while but failed to make it a big one. Ish Sodhi, who entered into the scene after powerplay completely changed the complexion of the game by removing Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Shivam Dube to give a massive advantage for New Zealand. Those three wickets were followed by Washington Sundar, who dragged Santner’s delivery on to his stumps.

However, Manish Pandey, who remained unbeaten in the series so far, rotated strike in the middle with the support of Shardul Thakur to move the scoreboard inch by inch. Santner, who collected man of the match for his bowling performance at this venue before, looked brilliant in the field by registering three catches to his name.

In the end, India finished with a decent score of 165 on the board with Manish Pandey being unbeaten on 50 while Navdeep Saini added a crucial 11 in 9 balls.
