India head coach Ravi Shastri has kept the close to his charts regarding the inclusion of Rishabh Pant in the playing eleven for the third England vs India Test. Shastri also gave a promising news on Virat Kohli’s fitness.

The calls to include Pant in the playing eleven have increased after Dinesh Karthik’s failures in the first two Tests. Karthik made it to the side as Wriddhiman Saha’s replacement while Pant was selected as the back-up option. However, Karthik has done little so far to justify his inclusion in the side.

Just like most of his teammates, Karthik has looked quite lost in front of the swinging deliveries. So far, he has scored 0,20, 1 and 0 in four innings. His unimpressive glove-work has made things even more tough for him.

As a result, there have been calls to include Pant in the playing eleven. Pant recently impressed for India A while playing two four-day games against West Indies A and England Lions. Prior to that, he had a sensational IPL.

Pant ended as the second highest run-getter in the tournament with 684 runs from 14 games for Delhi Daredevils. It included five fifties and one century.

But coach Shastri did not reveal much while addressing the media ahead of the third Test, saying:

“About Rishabh, you will know at 11 o’clock day after.”

He further gave an update on skipper Kohli who was suffering from a stiff back in the second Test.

“About Kohli, he is feeling much better. You saw him in the nets. He is moving much better and improving by the day,” said Shastri.

Meanwhile, India are trailing the 5-match series 2-0 and will be desperate to come up with a good performance in the upcoming game to save the series. They were throughly outplayed at Lord’s as the hosts thrashed them by an innings and 159 runs.
