Suryakumar Yadav still not getting his maiden call-up from Team India has baffled many. Earlier this year, the Mumbai star was named in the India A squad and it looked like a call-up from the senior team was just around the corner. But earlier this week, he suffered another setback when the selectors ignored him for the upcoming tour of Australia.

Suryakumar Yadav must be feeling disappointed with the latest snub. The right-handed batsman has been in stunning form for quite some time now. He has been performing consistently in domestic cricket as well as the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Suryakumar Yadav had finished the last season of Vijay Hazare Trophy with an average of 113, the highest in the competition. The Mumbai star continued in the same vein in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His tally of 392 was the third highest while his strike rate of 169 was the second-best among batsmen with 250 runs in the tournament.

His form in the ongoing IPL 2020 is good too. In 12 matches so far, he has scored 362 runs with the help of three fifties and a strike-rate of 155.36. But his consistent runs are just not proving enough for him to get the much-awaited call from the senior team.

Simon Doull motivates Suryakumar Yadav:

As Suryakumar Yadav desperately waits for the India call-up, former New Zealand pacer Simon Doull has asked the batsman to continue to knock on the selectors’ doors. The former cricketer-turned-commentator urged the batsman not to take his foots off the pedal and continue delivering with the bat.

Expressing his surprise over Suryakumar not getting the call, Doull lavished the 30-year old for his batting performances.

“It’s almost like what more I have to do. What you have to do is continually put your name in the selectors’ minds. There might be some on the bus or the plane ahead of you. But if you continue to bang that door, at some stage, they have to open that door, and let you in,” Doull said on Cricbuzz.

“He has been doing it in domestic cricket, he has been doing it in IPL for last three years. He just continues to impress.

“The way he plays spin, the way he takes the quicks on, whether it’s a short ball or full. I like his composure. When he is chasing, he just wants to get the job done. That’s all you can ever ask of any batsman. He cannot be far away from an international cap,” he added.
