Gautam Gambhir accused former India skipper Bishan Bedi of indulging in nepotism while trying to push his son Angad Bedi in Delhi’s age-group teams. Gambhir and Bedi were at loggerheads after the former launched a scathing attack following young pacer Navdeep Saini’s international debut.

Saini made an impressive debut for India claiming three for 17 in the first T20I match against West Indies in Florida. He has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit for quite some time now. Soon after that, former India opener Gautam Gambhir took the opportunity to take a dig at the two former India players – Bishan Singh Bedi and Chetan Chauhan.

“Kudos Navdeep Saini on ur India debut. U already have 2 wkts even before u have bowled-@BishanBedi & @ChetanChauhanCr. Their middle stumps are gone seeing debut of a player whose cricketing obituary they wrote even before he stepped on the field, shame!!!,” Gambhir tweeted.

Gautam Gambhir has been critical of Bishan Singh Bedi and Gautam Chauhan over blocking Navdeep Saini’s entry in the Delhi Ranji team back in 2013. The cricketer-turned-politician new attack didn’t go well with the former India skipper and he responded to it saying that the credit goes to the player who made it. Bedi also denied to stoop down to new low and take credit for something.

“I don’t believe that I have to stoop to conquer. I would rather not react to any comments on twitter. I have never said a negative thing about Navdeep Saini. Also I believe if someone has made it, it’s his credit not any Tom, Dick or Harry’s,” Bedi said to PTI.

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir had no intentions to pull back as he accused Bishan Singh Bedi of nepotism. Gambhir said that Bedi tried to include his undeserving son Angad Bedi in the Delhi age-group teams.

“Bishan Bedi talking about “stooping to conquer”, man who was pushing his undeserving son for selection or ChetanChauhanCr bent on getting his nephew in DDCA team. Shame. Also reproducing Bedi’s comments on Navdeep in a protest letter of 2013,” Gambhir said.

Gautam Gambhir had earlier also taken potshots at Bishan Singh Bedi and Chetan Chauhan when the selectors included Navdeep Saini in the Test squad against Afghanistan. But the cricketer didn’t play that game and is yet to make his Test debut.
