Gautam Gambhir Posts an Emotional Post After Receiving Padma Shri

India’s former southpaw batsman Gautam Gambhir expressed his gratitude after he received Padma Shri. Gambhir who recently announced his retirement came up with an emotional post after receiving the award. The left-handed batsman said he is honoured to receive the prestigious reward.

Gambhir said he is living for the day when he – the human being will beat the Gautam Gambhir – the cricketer. Gambhir is living for that dream to come true and said that would be the perfect gift to himself. In fact, Gambhir is a player who likes to give it back to society. The southpaw batsman has always been vocal about the political issues in the country. Furthermore, he likes to donate and has his own charity foundations.

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir was among the eight recipients of Padma Shri. India’s football captain Sunil Chettri is also rewarded with Padma Shri. The talisman striker has been instrumental in taking Indian football to new heights.

On the other hand, Gautam Gambhir recently announced his retirement from International cricket from all the three formats. He ended his career with a fine hundred while playing for Delhi against Andhra in the Ranji Trophy. The linchpin left-hander scored a majestic knock of 112 in his swansong.

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir was regarded as the big-match player in the major ICC events. He scored a brilliant 75 in the final against Pakistan in the inaugural edition of the World T20. The talisman left-hander also scored a fine knock of 97 runs in the final of 2011 World Cup against Sri Lanka to help India lift their second title.

Gautam Gambhir took to his Twitter account to share his delight after receiving the prestigious award. The post read as, “It’s an honour I accept with gratitude. But it’s an honour which also comes with responsibility. I’m living for the day when Gautam Gambhir the human being beats Gautam Gambhir the cricketer. That will be my day, my award to myself. #PadmaAwards2019”
