Of late, the debates over players participation in the Indian Premier League 2019 ahead of ICC World Cup 2019 has become a regular headliner. Meanwhile, the latest to join the bandwagon is the former swashbuckling opening batsman, who recently took a retirement Gautam Gambhir. He believes that players should play IPL 2019 for being at top of their skills.

Gautam Gambhir quoted that bowling 4 overs in a game wouldn’t do much of damage for the bowlers. He also quoted that playing in such a high-pressure tournament will help the players to be at top of their skills, which will help to go into the ICC World Cup 2019.

”I think playing the IPL is a fabulous opportunity for most of those guys to be in peak form. Because you’re only bowling four overs. It’s not like there is a lot of physical burden on you. Plus you’re going to be bowling in difficult conditions as well, whether in the first six overs or the last four. So that will keep you in good shape. You don’t suddenly miss the IPL and say ‘I’ll go to the World Cup fresh and raring to go,” Gautam Gambhir quoted.

”That is only from the physical point of view, but from the skill point of view, to be at the top of your game, you’ve got to be playing a tournament like the IPL. And if you do well at the IPL, it’s going to keep you in very good stead in the World Cup. Imagine Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowling well in the death overs, how confident they would be going into the World Cup,” he added.

MS Dhoni has made a good point on playing IPL – Gautam Gambhir

Further, the flamboyant batsman, who has been one of the successful skippers in IPL quoted that the middle-order batsman, who finishes the games for their franchises will also go with a great mindset into the grand event. Gambhir also highlighted MS Dhoni’s point, who quoted that IPL is a platform to stay in a good form.

“Some of the middle-order batters finishing the game for their franchise, they’ll go to the World Cup thinking, ‘We can finish from any situation’. So I think the IPL can be a blessing in disguise. I think MS Dhoni made a very good point when he said that it’s going to be a great opportunity for most of the players to be in prime form from the skill point of view,” Gautam Gambhir inferred.

Well, as Gautam Gambhir said, playing Indian Premier League 2019 will put players in a decent frame of mind. However, there is a slight danger of losing a quality player because of the injuries, as the schedule will be pretty hectic.
