It took George Munsey just 8 deliveries to race away from 50 to 100 as he smashed a blazing ton on Sunday. The unofficial T20 between Gloucestershire second XI and Bath CC would have been low-key affair but Munsey’s exploits caught the eyeballs from all around the world. George Munsey completed his fifty from 17 balls before hitting the top gear to reach the triple-digit in a blink of an eye.

He was eventually out for 147. The knock came off just 39 balls and contained 5 fours and an astonishing 20 sixes.  Munsey’s partner GP Willows also struck a quick century off 53 balls. With two batsmen scoring centuries and Tom Price hitting a 23-ball 50,  Gloucestershire 2nd XI posted an unbelievable 326/3 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Bath CC also came up with a fine effort but just could not get even close to the gigantic total. They scored 214 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs and lost the game by 112 runs.

Meanwhile, West Indies star Chris Gayle holds the record for the highest individual score in T20 cricket. He had hammered an unbelievable 175* for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL against Pune Warriors India in 2013. On the other hand, Afghanistan recorded the highest-ever T20 score this year when they slammed 278/3 against Ireland with Hazratullah Zazais blazing 162 not out.

George Munsey’s century, nonetheless, came in less number of deliveries than Gayle’s. Gayle, who holds the record for fastest ton in T20s, took 30 balls to reach the milestone while Munsey took just 25. Earlier this year,  Surrey’s Will Jacks had also raced to a 25-ball century  in a T10 warm-up v Lancashire. His knock also included six sixes in an over.
