Harbhajan Singh Reveals His Team India World Cup Squad

Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has revealed his 15-man Team India squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. 

The much-anticipated World Cup, scheduled to be held in England and Wales, is just a couple of months away.  England and South Africa will lock horns in the tournament-opener on May 30 at The Oval in London. The tournament will last for 45 days with 48 matches to be played. India will start their campaign against the Proteas on June 5.  The format for the 2019 edition will see 10 best teams in the world going head-to-head in a round-robin format. The tournament will culminate with the fifth final at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground on July 14.

With not much time before the World Cup gets underway, the cricketing world is busy predicting about the players who would make the cut. Well, Harbhajan Singh has also followed suit and has revealed his team. Speaking for Sports Tak, the off-spinner did not spring too many surprises but surprisingly left out Rishabh Pant.

Pant was not a part of the ODI team that won the series in  Australia and New Zealand. However, recently chief selector MSK Prasad made it clear that Pant is in contention for a World Cup spot. Pant, who has hit the ground running in Tests, recently impressed for India in the T20Is against New Zealand.

In another surprise pick, Harbhajan picked allrounder Vijay Shankar in the team. Shankar recently made his ODI debut during the series in Australia before showcasing his hard-hitting prowess in the New Zealand T20Is. The off-spinner, who was a part of the World Cup-winning team, picked up Mohammed Shami as the third pacer while the other names were very much on the expected lines.

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Dinesh Karthik, Umesh Yadav and Vijay Shankar.
