Harbhajan Singh Says New Legacy Will Spark With Sourav Ganguly Becoming BCCI President

After Sourav Ganguly took charge as BCCI President, Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh said that a new theme will start developing and will give shape to the entire landscape of the Indian national cricket team. He went on to shower praises on Sourav Ganguly for the way he led the team from the front during his captaincy stint and has also conceded that Ganguly will repeat the same formula as BCCI President.

Harbhajan Singh’s words should give the Indian players a leap of faith. The Turbanator further added saying that he had learnt a lot playing alongside him and it was indeed a great pleasure for him to share a dressing room with Ganguly.

According to the 39-year-old spinner, Ganguly’s rich legacy was deftly carried forward by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and now that Virat Kohli is trying to take the Indian cricket forward to a whole new level. In Virat Kohli’s absence, Rohit Sharma is stepping forward to take the onus and lead the team. This indeed goes to show that the future of Indian cricket is in safe hands now.

“He has been a great leader for India and I personally, learnt a lot playing with him. During his captaincy, he led the team flawlessly. His rich legacy was carried forward by MS Dhoni and now Virat Kohli is doing a fine job. I am sure that he will set the same example in BCCI as its president too.

There is a certain unparalleled quality that is recognised to grant a prestigious position such as this to any individual and Dada reeks of such qualities. I am certain a new legacy begins with this journey of his just as is his field’s journey,” Harbhajan Singh was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

When asked about the difference between Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni when it comes to leadership, Harbhajan Singh said: “I believe that India is serving its best on the performing field. We have won the maximum matches under our young talented captain Virat and legendary MS Dhoni. All credit goes to their captaincy along with the constant support of our young players.

Naturally, everyone’s style is different hence the executing skills would also vary but the aim is the same, it only results in a great team and fabulous performance.”
