Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has once again taken shots at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The former spinner has regularly found himself in the news headlines because of his statements in recent times. More often than not, he has slammed the PCB while alleging that he is being discriminated because of his religion.

Danish Kaneria was given a life ban for a spot-fixing charge in 2012 and has been trying desperately to get some relaxation. He is facing a lot of trouble and is unemployed from the last one decade after being banned. The former leg-spinner had filed an appeal against the ban, but it was rejected in July 2013.

‘Never played the religion card’:

Slamming PCB once again for their double standards, Danish Kaneria has said he never played the religion card. He said that he takes pride in the fact that he represented his country at the highest level while taking another potshot at PCB. He alleged that while PCB behaves well with the other players, the case is different for him.

“Playing for the Pakistan cricket team has been a matter of pride for me. Playing for my country and being a Hindu cricketer, representing the Pakistan team and winning matches for my team is like an achievement for me and it is a matter of pride and honor for me,” Danish Kaneria told India TV.

“People accuse me of playing the religion card. I do not mean to do this nor have I ever played the religion card. My issue is only with the Pakistan Cricket Board and its double standards. The behavior of the PCB with the rest of the players is very good but when it comes to me, I am sidelined. I regret this,” he added.

Danish Kaneria is the fourth highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in Test. With 261 wickets to his name, he is only behind Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Imran Khan in the list. No other spinner from Pakistan has taken more Test wickets than Kaneria.
