India A vs England Lions 2019: 5th Unofficial ODI, Thiruvananthapuram – Match Report; It was a thrilling affair at Thiruvananthapuram. The fantastic knock by Ben Duckett helped England win the final unofficial ODI of the series in a thrilling low-scoring clash. They bagged a 2-wicket victory in a rain-curtailed game.

1st Innings:

Initially, it was India A, who won the toss and chose to bat first in a rain-curtailed game. But, unfortunately, they got the jolt right in the first delivery of the game when KL Rahul was clean bowled by Lewis Gregory in the first ball of the innings. He was quickly followed by the other opener Himmat Singh, who scored 3 runs to his name.

The skipper Ankit Bawne scored a 17-ball duck while Rishabh Pant and Deepak Hooda scored 7 and 5 runs respectively. All those poor scores saw Indian batsmen reeling at 57/6 at the end of 16 overs. Siddhesh Lad, who scored 36 also faltered to convert his start when the team wants the most.

Meanwhile, Axar Patel’s 23 and Deepak Chahar’s 21 helped India past 100-run mark on the board. They finished with 121 runs in the stipulated 35 overs per innings. Jamie Overton bagged 3 wickets while Tom Bailey picked up a couple of wickets. Gregory, Carter and Mullaney picked up 1 wicket each.

2nd Innings:

In reply, once again Englishmen found it tough to tackle Indian bowlers. Both openers went for 17 runs on the board while Sam Hain also walked back for a cheap score. Sam Billings, Mullaney and Overton registered 8,8 and 1 to their name respectively to make things interesting.

However, the stylish southpaw Ben Duckett stood like a warrior in between the win and loss for both the sides. He scored a marathon knock of unbeaten 70* to guide England Lions to victory with one wicket in hand.

Deepak Chahar and Rahul Chahar are the stars for India, who bagged three wickets each. Axar Patel picked up 2 wickets while Shardul Thakur chipped in with one wicket.
