With the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma, arguably India boast of one of the most potent fast bowling attacks in the world. Jason Gillespie, who played 71 Tests, 97 ODIs and one T20I for Australia, feels India have one of the most exciting bowling combinations in the world.

Breaking records and matching legends, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami, have reinstated the ‘fear’ factor in the middle. The pace family of three look the happiest feasting together in the Test arena. At present, the deception of Bumrah, the reverse swing of Shami and the length of Ishant Sharma, in tandem, rank top in the list of challenges in the red-ball cricket.

I am not surprised – Jason Gillespie

Speaking of the same, Jason Gillespie stated that Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah are one of the most exciting combinations for him in Test cricket at present. Though he termed Australia got the best bowlers, Jason Gillespie feels India got right combinations.

In just 12 Tests, Bumrah has taken 62 wickets at an average of 19.24. On the other hand, Mohammed Shami finished 2019 as the best fast bowler of India in Test Cricket with 33 wickets to his name. Jason Gillespie further praised skipper Virat Kohli for allowing his bowlers to express themselves.

“India have a fantastic attack. I think there are some wonderful pace attacks in the world at the moment. I particularly enjoy watching Australia and India’s pace attacks. It’s tough to go past (Mitchell) Starc, (Josh) Hazlewood and (Pat) Cummins in my opinion. However, what I can say is that Bumrah and Shami is one of the most exciting bowling combinations in the world,” he said.

”I’m not surprised that India has pace bowling riches. There’ve always been a lot of talented fast bowlers in India. Playing under Kohli is great for Ishant (Sharma). He comes across as a leader who backs and trusts his quick bowlers,” Jason said as per Hindustan Times.
