India Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane expressed his delight after the team’s clinical performance in the ten-wicket win over West Indies in the second Test.

Continuing their dominance at home, India thrashed West Indies by ten wickets in the second Test to sweep the two-match series. Unlike the first Test, West Indies managed to put up a good challenge but eventually turned out to be no match for the world number one Test side.

Batting first, the tourists scored 311. In reply, India were all out for just 367 despite starting day three on a commanding 308 for 4. However, the Jason Holder-led side failed to capitalise on the opportunity as their top-order failed to fire again. The middle and lower-order failed too as West Indies were all out for just 127. Set a target of 72, India chased it down without breaking any sweat inside 17 overs.

And after the game ended, Ajinkya Rahane, who scored 80 in the first innings, took to Twitter to hail the team effort. At the same time, he also pointed out that the bigger task is now awaiting the team which is the tour of Australia.

“A complete team performance by us. Happy to win the series 2-0 and see everyone contributing. Time to get back to the basics before leaving for Australia,” tweeted Rahane.

Meanwhile, the series win was India’s 10th successive series win at home. They are only the second side to achieve this incredible feat. The other side is Australia who did it twice from 1994/95 to 2000/01 and 2004-2008/09.

It was followed by series wins over West Indies (2-0 in 2013/14), South Africa (3-0 in 2015/16), New Zealand (3-0 in 2016/17), England (4-0 in 2016/17), Bangladesh (1-0 in 2016/17), Australia (2-1 in 2016/17), Sri Lanka (1-0 in 2017/18), Afghanistan (1-0 in 2018) and West Indies (2-0 in 2018/19).
