Windies talisman all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is likely to miss out for the ODI series against India. Bravo doesn’t make the cut into the list of 25 probable players for the five-match series. Meanwhile, Windies talisman opener Chris Gayle who played his last List A for Jamaica will also not be part of the series. Thus, the Windies team will lack the spark without the services of its pivotal players.

According to the Newsday report, Cricket West Indies have come out with a 25 players list. However, the list doesn’t contain Dwayne Bravo. In fact, the untimely tour of India has left the selectors in a puzzle. They cannot take their decision as per the ongoing Super50 regional domestic tournament.

Meanwhile, the first One-Dayer will take place on 21 October at Guwahati. Therefore, there will be a Windies camp which will help in selection.

“The reason the [longlist for the] ODI team was picked before Super50 is because players are flying out of the Caribbean on October 10 to be in India by October 12,” Grave said while talking to Newsday. “There will be a camp in Guwahati before the first ODI game in that city is played.

“The [benefit of the] Super50 now from the selectors’ point of view will be to look at players who aren’t in India and who don’t perform in India to [then] shuffle the pack for [the] Bangladesh [tour].”

Meanwhile, Bravo hasn’t played any ODIs since 2014. Grave confirmed that a player should play in the Super50 tournament to make himself available for the national side. However, Bravo faces a lot of competition for the all-rounder role.

“Bravo’s issue is that he’s playing in an allrounder spot with Andre Russell, Pollard, Carlos Brathwaite, Rovman Powell who all did well in CPL, so there is a lot of options for selectors to choose from,” Grave said. “But once he performs in Super50, the door remains open for Dwayne.”

On the other hand, Dwayne Bravo had led Trinbago Knight Riders to the second successive title in CPL 2018. Thus, his CPL performances will have an impact on the selection of the T20I squad.

“The T20 squad should reflect the best possible pool of players from CPL performances,” he said.

Therefore, Bravo can be part of the T20I squad of the Windies.
