Rest in BCCI’s dictionary means dropped these days. The renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle has questioned resting Umesh Yadav for the final T20I against the Windies. The Board of Control for Cricket in India had updated their squad for the last T20I against the Windies. India decided to rest Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav for the third match and roped in Siddarth Kaul into the side. However, resting Umesh Yadav doesn’t make sense.

Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah have played continuously in the white ball version and it is understandable to give them rest. However, resting Umesh Yadav creates a doubt. Umesh Yadav had scalped a 10-wicket haul in the second Test match, which had earned him a place in the ODI and T20I side.

Umesh Yadav isn’t a regular in the playing XI.

The fast bowler isn’t a regular part of all the limited overs matches. Yadav had played the first T20I against the Windies in which he leaked 36 runs and scalped two wickets. Subsequently, the pacer was dropped from the playing XI for the second T20I.

Therefore, Harsha Bhogle believes there could be an injury concern for Umesh Yadav, which we are not aware of. In fact, Umesh Yadav is also included in the forthcoming three T20Is against Australia.

Meanwhile, Umesh Yadav can veer off the track in his line and length. Thus, the pacer can be expensive in his spells.

On the other hand, India has already taken an impregnable lead of 2-0 in the three-match series. Thus, they will look to test their bench strength. The likes of Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sundar, and Siddarth Kaul can get their chances in the playing XI.

Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter to share his thought on Umesh Yadav. Bhogle tweet read as, “I can understand Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav being rested for today’s game. But bit intrigued by Umesh Yadav being pulled out. I thought he would want to play as much as possible (unless there is an injury we don’t know of)”.
