Former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin believes Rishabh Pant should keep wickets regularly. Pant could not get his chance in the ODI format as MS Dhoni was keeping the wickets. Furthermore, Pant didn’t get the wicketkeeping duties in the first T20I against the Windies as Dinesh Karthik took up the gloves.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has had his issues behind the stumps. Pant had fluffed his chances in the second Test match against the Windies as he was going with hard hands. Thus, Pant needs to improve his skills as a wicketkeeper.

Pant has work to do on his wicketkeeping skills.

However, he was unlucky on England tour as Indian fast bowlers had bowled down the leg-side to add runs to the byes section.

“One got to bank on Pant. If he is good enough to keep wickets in the Test matches in England then why not T20? And no doubt that he showed better skills in England than Karthik,” he was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

Therefore, the former flamboyant batsman believes Pant should receive his chance as a gloveman. Pant is expected to get better when he will get his chance to don the wicketkeeping gloves.

“I honestly feel Rishabh should’ve kept wickets today. When you are a keeper, you should keep wickets. He is a good player. He has done well. The more he keeps, he will learn. I think his keeping needs to improve a lot though,” Azhar further added.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant also needs work on his ground fielding as he had dropped catches in the ODI series against the Windies. Pant could only score a solitary run in the first T20I against the Windies.

On the other hand, India was able to win the first T20I by five wickets. The second T20I will take place on November 6 at Lucknow.
