Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh is hugely disappointed with the Windies performance as they lost the first match by an innings and 272 runs. It was a poor performance from the tourists as they could not show any fight with either bat or ball.
Meanwhile, Indian skipper, Virat Kohli won the much-needed toss and decided to bat first on Day one. The opening batsman KL Rahul was unable to provide runs for India. However, his partner Prithvi Shaw scored a brilliant century in his debut Test match. Later, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja also scored centuries against the visitors.
Meanwhile, the pacers and the spinners of Windies team failed to take wickets at regular interval. India posted a mammoth total of 649 runs and declared the innings. Indian bowlers thrashed the top-order batsman on day two as they lost their six wickets in quick time before the stumps were being called.
Windies looked dominating on day three as they ferociously started their innings. Roston Chase and Keemo Paul added some vital runs in quick time but unfortunately, the day didn’t favor the Windies as they lost their rest four wickets in a jiffy. India decided to enforce to follow-on as they were trailing by 468 runs in the second essay.
Moreover, Kieran Powell and Kraigg Brathwaite started their innings well, but Ashwin did the massacre for the Windies. Later, Powell began scoring runs, but the other batsman couldn’t give any kind of support. Indian chinaman Kuldeep took the initiative to rattle the batting order, and he took the five-wicket haul for the first time in Test cricket.
Furthermore, it was a poor show from both the bowling and batting department from the Windies team.
Harbhajan Singh was not happy with Windies performance. He also added that there was a time when people used to fear to play against the strong Windies side. Harbhajan is also hoping that they would come up with good players and can compete at the international level.
Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter to share his thoughts. Bhajji post read, “Sad to see this situation of West Indies cricket.. there was a time when people fear playing against them.. hope they do get some good players and compete at international level..”
