India skipper Virat Kohli expressed his delight after his team thrashed Windies in the fourth ODI at Mumbai.

India bounced back from the defeat in the third ODI with a crushing 224-run win over Windies in the fourth game to take an unassailable 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

For the first time in the series, Virat Kohli failed to cross the hundred-run mark. But Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu stepped up, scoring centuries to guide India to a mammoth 377 for 5 in the allotted 50 overs. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit gave the team a good start by adding 71 runs before the former squandered another start and departed for 38.

Kemar Roach then sent back Kohli for 16 to leave India reeling at 101 for 2. However, Rohit and Rayudu shared a mammoth 211-run stand to set India on course for a huge total. Ashley Nurse broke the stand by dismissing Rohit for 162 before Rayudu departed too after scoring exactly 100. Handy knocks from MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav then propelled the hosts to the huge score.

In reply, Windies never looked in contention to even challenge the score let alone chasing it down.  Even before they could cross the 50-run mark, they were five down with their two top-scorers of the series Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer back in the hut. Skipper Jason Holder then played a fine unbeaten knock of 54 to help his side cross the 100-run mark before the Caribbean outfit was all for 153.

Speaking at the end of the game, Kohli said:

“Yes, ticked all the boxes. Clinical games in all departments. Got into rhythm. We are known to bounce back and it was another example. Rayudu has taken his chance with both hands. He reads the game well, so we are happy that someone intelligent is batting at number four. Khaleel was good with pitching it in the right areas, making the ball talk, and swinging it both ways.”
