Rising Indian cricketers have been benefited with the U-19 World Cup. Many Indian cricketers who achieved big success for the senior national team rose through the ranks ever since their participation in the youth marquee tournament. The U-19 World Cup has pioneered a lot of young talents to the senior team and has been an essential part of their career.

Let us have a look at five Indian cricketers who were adjudged the man-of-the-series in U-19 World Cup.

Yuvraj Singh

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh contributed to the fore in ICC tournament. He was the hero of 2007 T20 World Cup and was later adjudged the man-of-the-series in 2011 World Cup. In his playing days Yuvraj Singh proved to be crucial with his all-round performances.

But he largely owes his success to the U-19 World Cup. The stylish southpaw had shown early spark in his career back in the 2000 U-19 World Cup. He has notched up over 200 runs in the tournament and picked up 12 wickets to be adjudged the man-of-the-series.

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan has recently been in and out of the team owing to injuries but he has been a key opener for the side and contributed highly in ICC events. But Shikhar Dhawan started to show early signs of making it big in the 2004 U-19 World Cup. In the youth World Cup, Dhawan hit 505 runs at an average around 84, for which he man of the tournament.

Cheteshwar Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara has established himself as the core of Indian Test line-up. It was his batting prowess which helped India secure their maiden Test series triumph Down Under. He has also succeeded as a fine Test player in overseas conditions and can be relied.

But he came first to the fore during the 2006 U-19 World Cup where he scored 349 runs at an average of 116.33 and was subsequently named the man-of-the-series.

Shubman Gill

Rising India batsman Shubman Gill who is yet to cement his place across formats in the senior national team showed his batting prowess during the U-19 World Cup. Gill scored 372 runs in the U-19 World Cup in 2018 and was subsequently adjudged the man-of-the-tournament for his brilliance.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal had a fine run for India in the 2020 U-19 World Cup but unfortunately the side could not bring the youth World Cup home. Jaiswal contributed to the fore with the bat, bowled part-time and was outrageous on the field as well. He is touted to be the next big thing in Indian cricket. He scored 400 runs in the tournament at a brilliant average of 133 to be adjudged the man-of-the-tournament.
