Before the start of the third ODI between India and South Africa in Cape Town, there were some unusual scenes at South Africa’s net session.

A total of five leg-spinners were bowling to the batsmen to deal with the Chahal-Kuldeep threat, who have disturbed the home batsmen in the series.

Both have scalped 21 wickets in total, in the three games played till now.

One of the five bowlers in the South African its was Indian origin player, Ajay Rajput.

The right-arm off-spinner, who can also bowl leg-spinner, as per Wah Cricket, was called up by the authorities to come and bowl in the nets to help South African batsmen,

“I was given a call by the Johannesburg Cricket Club chairman to come and bowl at South African batsman. The South Africans feel Chahal and Kuldeep are bowling slower through the air, allowing the ball to drift and turn. So, I was asked to flight the ball and bowl as slow as possible to get familiar with the turn. The difference between here and India is the bounce.I used to get a turn even back home but here I get that extra bounce, which just makes matter more difficult for batsmen,” he told Wah Cricket.

First-class experience –

Ajay has played one first-class cricket in India. He played for Madhya Pradesh in 2012/13 season, where he scalped one wicket in 19 overs.

He was called for suspect action in the same game and never played for the state again.

The report in Wah Cricket tells that he has been playing in South Africa for five years now.

South Africa not the first team to opt this strategy –

South Africa is surely noo the first team to opt for the horses for courses strategy.

Last year, when Australia visited India for limited overs series, they also called in an Indian origin player to tackle with Kuldeep-Chahal threat.

The team management called in Kerala chinaman bowler, KK Jiyas before the start of the ODI series to tackle with the leg-spin of the two young bowlers.

It was the first home series for Chahal and Kuldeep as partners and right from then, they have managed to sustain their place in the limited overs side.

The fourth ODI of the series will be played today (February 10) in Johannesburg.
